How it works

How does trythismovie rank movies?

Each page starts with similar and recommended titles from TMDB. Jev then answers one typed tone-match question per candidate. We sort those scores in code and drop anything below a 35% fit. Jev is not a chatbot and does not write the list.

Is this the same as matching genre?

No. Shared genre is a weak starting point. Rankings are tone and vibe fit — films in the same genre can score low and fall off the page.

Where do titles, posters, and overviews come from?

From The Movie Database (TMDB). We do not generate plot summaries. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Why do some pages list fewer than ten films?

Only films that clear the tone-fit threshold are published, then we cap the list. The heading uses the real count instead of a hardcoded ten.

Can I type a mood or search for a title?

Not yet. Browse the seed films on this page and open a list for a movie you already love.
